Let’s start right now and  Go from room to room in your home and unplug everything you are not using. Make this a chore to do in the morning and at night. In Florida our a/c is like needing the heat in the middle of winter up north. In the winter months turn down the thermostat. Put a sweater on.
Do you feel hot or cold air coming in from under your windows? Apply some Caulk around window frames. Adding insulated drapes can also help .
Look for ways to to cut your costs. Can you replace your old thermostat for a newer one that can program to have the heat or a/c off at certain times of the day?
Do you have a old computer that you are leaving on that is heating up your bedroom? Maybe make it a point to use it twice a week…
How much electricity are you wasting by drying your laundry? How about air drying a few loads a week? I love my drying rack! For heavy items like jeans and towels, dry them part way. Some days I put the clothes in front of the fan to dry. It cools the air and dries the clothes at the same time.
Turn off the heat dry setting on your dishwasher.
Do not heat or cool rooms you are not using. Shut the vents and doors!
